Welcome to the Battlefield Swede!

My name is Joacim Hallberg, and I am working as an Army officer, the rank of Major, in the Swedish Armed Forces. I have served in several missions abroad in Bosnia, Afghanistan and in Mali.

During the latest years I have developed a huge passion for The Great War, and have visited the battlefields especially in Belgium and in France many times.

My research is ongoing, and it will be developed with as much fact I can find, with facts about the individuals, the places where they fell, the terrain and the cemeteries where they are buried or commemorated.

On this site I will present options for tours to the battlefield, especially to the Western Front of the Great War, which went on between 1914-1919.

I will initially start up this activity in a quite small scale, but later on try to offer more options about content and timings.

The tours will be based upon the histories and perspective from the Swedish born individuals, who served as officers and soldiers on all sides, the Allied and the German side. It will contain specific facts about the fate of the individuals, but also about the battles they fought in.

Again, welcome to my page.
